Wauneta-Palisade Schools Superintendent

Wauneta-Palisade Schools is accepting applications for the district superintendent position because the current superintendent will retire effective 6/30/2027. Located in the scenic Frenchman River Valley along Highway 6 in southwest Nebraska, the Wauneta-Palisade area offers abundant hunting, fishing, golfing, and many other activities.  The district is approximately 455 square miles in Chase, Dundy, Hayes, and Hitchcock counties. The district serves 225 students, PK through 12^th grade. Wauneta-Palisade has a district AQuESTT Classification of Excellent.

WPS takes pride in our positive school climate/culture, financial stability, and recently updated facilities, which help attract students and staff. WPS offers students a variety of activities including One Act, FFA, National Honor Society, cheer, volleyball, football, cross country, basketball, track, wrestling, speech, student council, and quiz bowl.

Wauneta-Palisade has a strong, supportive community, great staff, and cohesive Board of Education. Wauneta-Palisade is located near several state lakes, recreation areas, and golf courses. Residents love the small-town feel, with many opportunities and amenities available. Summer activities for youth and adults include t-ball, swimming, baseball, sand volleyball, pickleball, and golf.

The district is looking for candidates who will:

·       Maintain long-term financial stability through responsible resource management, strong school finance practices, and proactive planning, including facility maintenance

·       Strengthen district leadership and accountability by working closely with the board and administrative team and being open and transparent in communication

·       Recruit, retain, and develop highly qualified staff through support, encouragement, and competitive compensation

·       Foster a strong, collaborative relationship with the Board of Education and build a shared vision for the future of Wauneta-Palisade

·       Foster a positive, professional, and student-centered school culture with consistent leadership, common expectations, collaborative work, and strong relationships

·       Prioritize student success and academic excellence to develop problem-solvers prepared for success in school and/or career

·       Possess or be able to acquire by the opening date of the position a Nebraska Administrative and Supervisory Certificate endorsed fully or provisionally for the PK-12 Superintendency. An Educational Specialist degree, Doctorate in Educational Administration, or an equivalent credential approved by the Nebraska Department of Education is required for this position
