A. Job Title: Elementary and Secondary Special Education Para-Educators:

B. Essential Requirements:
1. High School Diploma 2. Basic Computer and business machines knowledge 3. Organizational skills 4. Work well with children 7. No history of child abuse or negligence
C. Reports To: Building Principal or Supervising Special Education Teacher
D. Essential Job Functions: 1. Correct papers 2. Assist in classroom activities 3. Supervise at lunch, activity periods and playground 4. AM/PM Crosswalk 5. Before School Supervision
E. Working Conditions: 1. Inside and Outside 2. Stressful at times
F. Job Tasks: 1. Discuss assigned duties with resource and classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts. 2. Prepare lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations. 3. Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods. 4. Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers. 5. Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips. 6. Conduct demonstrations to teach such skills as sports, dancing, and handicrafts. 7. Distribute teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students. 8. Distribute tests and homework assignments, and collect them when they are completed. 9. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students. 10. Grade homework and tests, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices.
