College and Career Ready Coordinator

Job Overview:The Secondary College and Career Facilitator provides leadership, coordination, and implementation of the District 145 Work-Based Learning system as outlined in the District College and Career Readiness Strategic Plan.  The position primarily advances Work-Based Learning, ensuring students have access to structured job shadowing experiences and internships, apprenticeships, clinical experiences, and entrepreneurship opportunities that connect classroom learning to authentic workplace environments.  

In partnership with the Director of Learning, secondary administrators, school counselors, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) departments, the facilitator supports the development and sustainability of high-quality Programs of Study aligned to the Nebraska Career Education Model.  This includes integrating industry partnerships and credential-aligned work experiences into coherent pathways that reflect workforce needs and provide multiple entry and exit points for students.  

 

Through collaboration, partnership development, and ongoing evaluation, this role ensures work-based learning is implemented systematically and equitably so all students graduate prepared for postsecondary education and the workforce.  

Key Responsibilities:

  1.  Develop and Implement a Comprehensive Work-Based Learning Program 

  • Design, coordinate, and implement a systematic work-based learning program aligned with the District 145 CCR Strategic Plan and the Nebraska Career Education Model.  

  • Establish and maintain structured opportunities, including internships, cooperative education placements, apprenticeships, clinical experiences, school-based enterprises, entrepreneurial experiences, and supervised career experiences.  

  • Coordinate onsite job shadowing experiences in partnership with local employers.  

  • Develop processes for student placement, supervision, safety protocols, monitoring, documentation, and evaluation of work-based experiences.  

  • Ensure work-based learning aligns with CTE Programs of Study and district graduation requirements.  

  • Create clear guidelines, handbooks, and procedures for students, families, and business partners.  

  1. Strengthen Industry and Community Partnerships 

    • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with local businesses, industry leaders, workforce agencies, and community organizations.  

    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive workforce contact database.  

    • Plan and coordinate an annual District 145 Career Fair, engaging a diverse range of business and postsecondary partners to provide students with exposure to local and regional career opportunities.  

    • Coordinate classroom guest speakers, business tours, and career awareness events.  

    • Facilitate 1-2 annual workforce partnership meetings to strengthen relationships and align workforce needs with district programming. 

3. Collaborate to Support Systemic College and Career Development 

 

  • Participate in regular collaboration with counselors, CTE staff, and CORE teachers to align career development efforts.  

  • Support integration of career awareness and exploration activities within secondary programming.  

  • Contribute to the district’s assessment and evaluation system by collecting and analyzing data related to work-based learning participation outcomes  

  • Assist in reporting outcomes, including internship completion, job shadow participation, credential attainment, and postsecondary readiness indicators.

Additional Information

Certified Contract: $41,300 Base Pay (We recognize years of experience and hours)

Certification Requirements: Valid teaching or administrative certificate preferred, not required.  Work based learning supplemental endorsement required.

Contract Days: 197
