Position Overview
The Food Service Manager/Head Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals in compliance with Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) and USDA school nutrition guidelines. This position provides leadership within the kitchen and plays a key role in maintaining a positive, safe, and efficient food service environment.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and prepare nutritious, appealing meals for students and staff

Ensure compliance with all USDA, NDE, and local health regulations

Maintain accurate production records, inventory, and food safety documentation

Oversee kitchen operations, cleanliness, and equipment

Collaborate with administration and staff to support student needs

Foster a welcoming, student-friendly cafeteria environment
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in school food service or commercial food preparation preferred

Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and nutrition guidelines

Strong organizational and leadership skills

Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and the public

Additional Information
Salary is commensurate with experience. Start date is the second Monday in August. This is a full-time, 9 month non-certified position with work hours aligned to the school calendar and meal service schedule. Benefits are available in accordance with board policy. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks and meeting USDA/NDE training requirements. Position is open until filled.
