Transition Program Job Coach 

Position Summary

The Job Coach supports students with disabilities ages 18–21 in developing vocational, employment, independent living, and community participation skills as part of the school district’s transition program. The Job Coach provides individualized instruction, workplace support, and community-based training to help students successfully prepare for competitive employment and adult life.

This position works collaboratively with the transition teacher, director of special education, employers, and community agencies to ensure students gain meaningful work experiences and develop independence in real-world settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and coaching to students in school-based and community-based work settings.

  • Teach employability skills including:

    • Communication

    • Workplace behavior

    • Time management

    • Task completion

    • Problem-solving

    • Self-advocacy

  • Assist students in learning job-specific tasks 

  • Support students in developing independent living and community access skills.

  • Reinforce IEP transition goals 

  • Monitor student safety and well-being during community-based instruction.

Employment & Community Partnerships

  • Assist in identifying and developing work-based learning opportunities and job placements.

  • Communicate regularly with Raymond Central staff and employers regarding student performance and support needs.

  • Foster positive relationships with local businesses and community partners.

Transportation & Supervision

  • Transport and supervise students in community settings as assigned and in accordance with district policy.

  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality requirements, district procedures, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma required

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.

  • Experience in vocational training, coaching, or community-based instruction is preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet district driving requirements may be required.
