Description: The Elementary School Counselor provides a comprehensive developmental and preventative guidance program for students in kindergarten through sixth grade, supporting their intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth. In this role, the counselor delivers classroom guidance lessons, offers individual and small-group counseling, and collaborates closely with parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure each student’s needs are understood and supported. The counselor also develops community resources, participates in SAT and Section 504 committee meetings, and contributes to MDT processes as appropriate. Serves as a vital liaison between the principal, staff, and families. Additionally, the counselor completes all required state and district reporting and provides other elementary-level educational support programs that foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
Additionally, you will remain current in your field through ongoing professional growth and collaboration, communicate regularly with parents and staff, and contribute to building- and district-level meetings. Dependable attendance, supervisory responsibilities, and other assigned duties are also key components of this position.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s Degree in Guidance & Counseling
- Certification: Holds or is eligible for a Nebraska Teacher’s Certificate
- Experience: At least 2 years teaching experience
