K-12 School Nurse

Due to an upcoming retirement, the Ord Public Schools is hiring a K-12 School Nurse (RN) to join our team. In this role, you will provide health services and support to students and staff at both Ord Elementary and Ord Jr/SR High. This is a 9 month position with BCBS Health & Dental Insurance Benefits, Paid Leave, and participation in the NPERS Retirement System.

Qualifications to include the following: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Must possess an unrestricted license to practice nursing in the State of Nebraska at all times during employment. Previous experience with School Nursing experience is preferred, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Health Management: Manage student health records, document clinic visits, care for students with chronic health conditions, etc.

• Medication Administration: Safely dispense prescribed medications according to district policies and state regulations.  Provide training to staff who assist with medication administration.

• Provide Direct Care: Administer first aid, emergency care, and routine medical treatments to students and staff.

• Safety: Ensure a safe, sanitary, and healthy environment within the school health offices. Serve on the District Safety Committee and oversee annual health and safety staff training.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must hold a valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Nebraska.

• Valid CPR / AED and First Aid certifications are required.

• Strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with students, staff and parents.

• Successful completion of a comprehensive district background check and documentation of successful nursing experience.  Prior school nursing experience is preferred but not required.
