First Grade Teacher

Norris Elementary School is accepting applications for a full-time first-grade teacher for the 2026–27 school year. The candidate selected to fill this position will work closely with experienced elementary school educators in planning and delivering a standards-based instructional program that supports the academic and social development of all students.
Required Qualifications:
Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Nebraska teaching certificate with an endorsement in elementary education, with a preference for candidates with experience in primary grade instruction.
TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach foundational skills, knowledge, and strategies across core subject areas including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies while utilizing the courses of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Plans and delivers effective instruction in a structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement, critical thinking, and active participation.
- Evaluates each student’s growth in skills, knowledge, and overall academic progress using formative and summative assessments to guide instruction.
- Provides differentiated whole-group, small-group, and individualized instruction to adapt the curriculum and meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior necessary to provide an orderly, safe, and productive learning environment.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains professional competence through district-provided in-service education activities and self-selected professional growth opportunities.
- Works cooperatively with other teachers, instructional staff, and administrators in planning and implementing a balanced and developmentally appropriate instructional program.
- Communicates effectively with parents, school counselors, and administrators regarding student progress and needs.
- Participates in curriculum development, faculty committees, and school improvement efforts as appropriate.
- Works cooperatively with administrators to support evaluation processes in accordance with district guidelines and follows all Norris School District staff handbook policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor in support of student learning and daily classroom operations.
BENEFITS
- Base pay 2026-27: $41,700
- All years of service accepted. 4% vertical, 5% horizontal salary schedule (9 graduate credit hour horizontal increments)

- 88 hours (11 days) non-specified leave per year
