Middle School Physical Education Teacher

JOB TITLE: MIDDLE SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION/HEALTH TEACHER

(2026 – 2027 School year)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Valid Nebraska Certificate with endorsement in physical education
  • Successful teaching and/or practice teaching experience
  • First aid certificate, CPR training
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate

JOB GOAL: To help students to live a constructive, wholesome, and happy life through  a variety of lifetime sports, being exposed to a wide variety of activities which may be applied in and after high school, knowledge of skills of the various games, along with rules and participation.  The instructor shall make a positive contribution which will assist the student in his/her development in the production of desirable social, mental and emotional responses.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine month year or as established by the Board of Education

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs all functions of classroom teacher with the addition of the following:
  • Implements and evaluates a course at the Middle School for all students
  • Plans instructional objectives and activities consistent with curriculum guides and developmental goals
  • Incorporates a program of instruction involving basic fundamentals of team sports and individual physical activities
  • Activities such as volleyball, flag football, basketball, softball, soccer, tennis, badminton, and aerobic dance.
  • Provides for the remediation of skills for those students who have not progressed as rapidly as their peers
  • Instills the value of team work and fair play
  • Utilizes a variety of positive support of the students in their physical and social development
  • Communicates a positive support of the students in their physical and social development
  • Recognizes the exemplary influence of the educator over the students
  • Relates with staff, parents, and community through positive professional cooperation
  • Remains abreast of current development in the physical education field
