Nutrition Compliance Specialist
The Nebraska Department of Education is looking for a Nutrition Compliance Specialist – this position will provide fiscal support to Child Nutrition program participants with their grant compliance. These participants require a lot of support as they help kids and students, so you will be able to see your direct impact!

Office Location: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE.
Essential Functions
- Completes reviews of Child Nutrition Program participating schools and organizations to ensure compliance with grant requirements, resource management, and allowability of costs.
- Evaluates sponsor financial records, sponsor procurement practices, and program expenditures to ensure compliance and to support cost control practices.
- Completes procurement and resource management reviews for schools participating in the USDA National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
- Develops and coordinates corrective action plans for programs to re-align with program regulations and federal monitoring requirements.
- Reviews and approves Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) operating budgets and resource management for day care home organizations.
- Monitors completion of for-profit CACFP institution audits and collaborates with auditors.
- Develops and coordinates training to ensure sponsor compliance with procurement practices and resource management.
- Maintains regular & reliable attendance, possesses a valid driver’s license and travels independently, and works in a variety of settings.
Working Conditions and Travel:
This position requires approximately 80% of work time spent in an office environment; the remaining 20% is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as schools or community organizations. There is also approximately two days of overnight travel per month.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Any equivalent education and/or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related fields and at least three years of experience reviewing financial documents and ensuring compliance with requirements and regulations.

Pay Grade 7: $30.597/hour
This rate is based upon available budget funds; any offer will be made at this rate.
