Provide year round academic support and instruction to High School students as well as group and individual Adult Basic Education, GED, and English as a Second Language instruction to students in an adult correctional facility. Examples of Work
Plan and develop curriculum appropriate to high school and adult inmate needs. Document student progress. Monitor area for cleanliness and maintain security. Supervise inmates in a classroom environment for ABE, GED and ESL programs. Assist with maintaining education databases.
REQUIREMENTS: Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with endorsement in mathematics (7-12).
PREFERRED: Background in reading, science, social studies, math, English, ESL, and/or special education. Experience working with at risk or high risk students and/or in a correctional setting.
OTHER: May accept candidates with a provisional certificate or eligible for certification.Complete training through the Nebraska Department of Adult Education. Must provide a copy of certification and transcripts. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
