Valentine – Superintendent

Valentine Community Schools is searching for a Superintendent of Schools to begin July 1, 2027. Valentine Community Schools is located in north central Nebraska, approximately 2 hours east of Chadron and 2 hours north of North Platte. Valentine Community Schools encompasses a geographic area of approximately 3,400 square miles covering most of Cherry County. The district serves 645 students PK – 12 in 5 attendance centers including: Valentine Elementary, Valentine Middle School, Valentine High School, and two rural attendance centers. Valentine Community Schools has a district AQuESTT Classification of Excellent.

VCS offers students a variety of activities including FBLA, FFA, Cheer, Mock Trial, National Honor Society, football, volleyball, cross country, basketball, golf, track, wrestling, speech, drama, student government, student publications, and quiz bowl

The community of Valentine has a motto of Small Town, Big Adventure! It is a place unlike any other from sandhills to the Niobrara River. The area offers hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, tubing, kayaking, hunting, fishing, and camping in the scenic beauty of Cherry County. Valentine offers all amenities locally that area residents may need. There are also youth activities including swimming, baseball, softball, bowling, art, and many more.

The district is looking for candidates who will:

• Prioritize student success and academic excellence to develop problem-solvers prepared for success in school and/or career

• Provide strong, sustainable financial leadership by proactively planning for financial challenges, aligning resources with district priorities, and developing maintenance and facilities long-term plans

• Strengthen district leadership and accountability by working closely with the board and administrative team and being open and transparent with communication

• Foster a positive, professional, and student-centered school culture with consistent leadership, common expectations, collaborative work, and strong relationships
