Facilities Director Job Description
Facility Maintenance & Operations
- Repair, maintain, and improve school buildings and grounds, including:
- Electrical systems
- HVAC systems
- Plumbing
- Equipment and fixtures
- Building structures
- Parking lots
- Practice fields
- Track
- Playgrounds
- Landscaping
- Ensure LCS complies with all applicable safety regulations.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize the reliability and longevity of equipment and building systems.
- Schedule routine inspections, servicing, and repairs.
- Coordinate and communicate the summer shutdown schedule.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of school floors.
- Establish maintenance priorities and long-term maintenance plans.
Customer Service & Communication
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to maintenance requests.
- Communicate clearly regarding maintenance needs and project updates.
- Model Lincoln Christian’s values of relationships, excellence, and service while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.
- Foster a team-oriented, problem-solving mindset.
Project Management
- Assist the Director of Operations with capital improvement projects by:
- Researching options
- Obtaining bids
- Coordinating subcontractors
- Working with engineers and architects
Inventory & Record Keeping
- Maintain systems for:
- Purchasing maintenance supplies
- Tracking routine maintenance
- Maintaining maintenance records
- Manage maintenance inventory.
Event & Facility Support
- Review the weekly master activities calendar to ensure HVAC and climate controls are properly scheduled for events and reserved spaces.
Snow Removal & Grounds Care
- Shovel snow and/or operate snow removal equipment (snow blowers, plows) to clear sidewalks, parking lots, and pathways.
- Apply salt or other de-icing materials to prevent hazardous conditions.
- Monitor weather forecasts and prepare proactively for snow events.
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot snow removal equipment, reporting repair needs as necessary.
Leadership & Emergency Preparedness
- Train and supervise maintenance staff as applicable.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for facility-related emergencies, including:
- Power outages
- Water leaks
- Other facility emergencies
- Coordinate with appropriate personnel and outside authorities during emergencies.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Superintendent.
Qualifications
- A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, demonstrated by evidence of spiritual maturity.
- Proven maintenance experience and a servant-hearted attitude.
- Professional training or specialized experience in one or more of the following:
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Carpentry
- HVAC certification or significant experience is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of materials, methods, procedures, tools, and equipment used in:
- Building maintenance
- Mechanical systems
- Plumbing
- Electrical systems
- Groundskeeping
- Demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills in order to manage email and Google forms.
- Valid Nebraska driver’s license.
- Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
The Facilities Director reports to the Director of Operations.
