Located in North Omaha, Jesuit Academy offers 75 young men in grades 4-8 a transformative educational opportunity that encourages them to claim ownership of their lives and develop themselves as responsible leaders. Jesuit Academy is one of 18 Jesuit Nativity Middle Schools in the United States. One of the guiding principles of these schools is to provide a faith-based education that breaks the cycle of poverty in underserved communities across America. The model includes an extended school day, an extended school year, and a tailored school/class enrollment size.
Founded in 1996, Jesuit Academy offers its students a transformative education that integrates a rigorous academic curriculum with co-curricular programs in athletics, the arts, community service, cultural-enrichment, social skills and spirituality. Jesuit Academy is committed to walking with our students throughout their educational journey. Our graduates have attended various secondary schools – more than two-thirds of each graduating class have earned full scholarships to college preparatory schools – and we boast a 98% overall high school graduation rate. More than 91% of graduates have enrolled in college, enlisted in the military or entered the workforce immediately following high school graduation.
Position Summary: Plans for, teaches, and facilitates Mathematics courses for 6th through 8th Grades. Creates a positive learning environment. Maintains academic progress, records, and discipline. Works collaboratively with students, parents and staff to provide and implement classroom education to meet the needs of all students.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
● Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university
● A valid NE Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s) in Secondary Education with one or multiple content areas identified (K-8 preferred, but not mandatory)
● Supporting and upholding the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
● Supporting and adhering to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese
● Preparing lesson plans consistent with Diocesan policy and our school mission which includes providing students with the opportunity to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information while providing authentic, real world opportunities to engage with information and content learned
● A demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn
● Excellent attendance record
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Best Instructional Practices
● Positive interpersonal skills
● Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience
● Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education
● This individual will exhibit skills pertinent to foster positive human relationships and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
● Willingness and demonstrated abilities conducive to a continuous quest for quality education
● Attending and participating in Faculty Meetings, Diocesan Meetings, Professional Development Days, Faculty Committees, etc.

● Maintaining open lines of communication with parents/ guardians/ staff

● Working collaboratively to achieve the overall purpose of the school’s program and support Jesuit Academy’s vision, aims and goals
● Planning and designing lesson plans to suit needs of diverse learners
● Differentiate instruction for multiple grades including an accelerated 7th grade and accelerated 8th grade Math course

- • Salary commensurate with experience. This position is a 12-month, full-time, non-exempt employment position.
