Special Education/Resource Teacher (Early Childhood-6th Grade)

Position Purpose

Hershey Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a Special Education/Resource Teacher (EC-6th grade) for the 2026-27 school year. This position requires an Early Childhood endorsement (or willing to attain one) and Elementary PK-6 certification.

This role includes Early Childhood Special Education services combined with an elementary resource caseload (either K-3 or 4-6, depending on student needs and caseload numbers). The assignment will be balanced between Early Childhood and elementary students.

The successful candidate will provide specially designed instruction to students with disabilities, implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborate with staff and families, and support inclusive practices across grade levels.


 

Essential Performance Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction and intervention to Early Childhood and elementary students with disabilities.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications.

  • Conduct progress monitoring and maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Conduct appropriate evaluation of students to determine eligibility

  • Work well with the educational team

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and IEP meetings.

  • Maintain positive communication with teachers and parents/guardians regarding student progress.

  • Support inclusive instructional practices within general education settings.

  • Utilize data to guide instructional decisions and interventions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.


 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate

  • Early Childhood Endorsement (or plan to take the ECSE praxis)

  • Elementary PK-6 Endorsement

  • Special Education Endorsement (or eligibility)

Preferred:

  • Experience working with Early Childhood and/or elementary students with disabilities

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and progress monitoring

  • Salary Range: 2026-27: $46,920-$84,847 

  • Hershey Public Schools accepts all years of experience with a salary index that tops out at 2.17
