K-6 Classroom Teacher
The Elementary Teacher at Guardian Angels Central Catholic (GACC) provides rigorous, engaging instruction across the core academic areas while nurturing the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students in alignment with Catholic values. The teacher fosters a safe, supportive, and faith-filled classroom environment that promotes curiosity, responsibility, and a love of learning. Through strong instruction, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to excellence, the teacher lays the foundation for lifelong learning and faith formation.
Responsibilities & Essential Duties:
Catholic Identity & Mission
• Model and support the Catholic mission, values, and beliefs of Guardian Angels Central Catholic
• Serve as a witness to the Catholic faith through professional conduct, relationships, and daily interactions
• Participate in school Masses, prayer, service activities, and faith-formation events, and plan grade-level Masses when assigned.
• Integrate Gospel values, prayer, and Catholic identity into daily instruction and classroom routines
• Support students’ growth in character, responsibility, compassion, and service
Instruction & Curriculum
• Teach assigned elementary curriculum across core subject areas in alignment with approved curriculum and learning goals and the use of Gradual Release of Instruction
• Design lessons that promote foundational skills, critical thinking, and age-appropriate problem solving
• Differentiate instruction to meet the developmental and learning needs of diverse students
• Integrate instructional technology and hands-on learning experiences to enhance engagement
• Demonstrate strong content knowledge and apply effective instructional strategies aligned with best practices
Assessment & Student Learning
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families
• Adjust instruction based on assessment data to support student growth
• Maintain accurate and timely records, grades, and required documentation
Classroom Environment
• Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
• Set clear expectations, routines, and procedures appropriate to elementary learners
• Maintain a clean, organized, and clutter-free classroom environment that supports student learning, safety, and well-being.
• Promote positive behavior, responsibility, and a growth mindset
• Foster a classroom culture where students feel valued, supported, and encouraged to participate
Professional & School Community Responsibilities
• Collaborate positively and effectively with colleagues, administrators, and support staff
• Communicate professionally and regularly with parents and guardians
• Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
• Demonstrate openness to feedback and a commitment to continuous professional growth
• Perform assigned student supervision duties, including recess, lunchroom, crosswalk, and other duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications & Certification
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
• Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate elementary endorsement, or ability to obtain certification
• Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education; practicing Catholic preferred
• Demonstrated ability to support the academic and developmental needs of elementary students
• Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
• Comply with all school policies, Archdiocese of Omaha guidelines, and Safe Environment requirements
• Adhere to the Confidentiality and Professional Conduct Addendum signed annually
