Early Learning Center Administrator (Principal)–Grand Island Public Schools

Start date–July 7, 2026

The Early Childhood Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination and
delivery of early childhood services and curriculum to all students enrolled in the program with
Grand Island Public Schools. This responsibility includes supervision and evaluation of assigned
staff (certified and classified), curriculum review and implementation, assessment, family
support and budgetary management for the program and facility.

This is a 260 day contract for this position.
1. Master Degree in Education, with endorsements in Early Childhood and Special Education,
and Nebraska Administrative/Supervisory Certification.
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to establish trust and rapport with families and students;
ability to collaborate to achieve desirable outcomes.
*Consideration will also be given to candidates who have sufficient coursework completed to
be eligible for provisional certification in Early Childhood, Special Education, and
Administration.

Position Requirement
1. Manages and directs the day to day operations of the Early Childhood building/center and
related early childhood classrooms in other GIPS school buildings, to insure a safe learning
environment for students and staff.
2. Implement procedures and coordinate the process for registration and enrollment of Early
Childhood students.
3. Develop and revise Early Childhood curriculum as needed, with attention to coordination and
alignment with the districts’ K-12 curriculum.
4. Participate in the selection of staff (both certified and classified) for Early Childhood
teaching and program support positions.
5. Provide supervision and evaluation of staff (certified and classified) for Early Childhood
teaching and support positions.
6. Provides guidance, support and direction to building principals with school based EC
programs/classrooms.
7. Develop and conduct or arrange for staff development sessions, including sessions on various
instruction methods, enriched learning in classroom settings, and methods for identifying
Early Childhood students.
8. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the Early Childhood programs and
implement changes based on the findings.
9. Provide resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals.
10. Consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, community agencies, and other
relevant individuals regarding Early Childhood students.
11. Plan and conduct parent meetings, including parent advisory committee meetings.
12. Responsible for operating within the boundaries of the program budgets, insuring that the
programs are cost effective and those funds are managed effectively.
13. Provides input and recommendations into the preparation of budget and cost estimates based
on documented program needs.
14. Participate in grant writing activities and collaborate with community agencies/resources, as
appropriate, to secure program funding.
15. Assist with the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the
program.
16. Compile and maintain records and documents regarding the Early Childhood program,
necessary to evaluate the program(s), support program retention or modification and to
justify new programs/initiatives.
17. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, and Board of Education.

Salary Range–$90,000-$114,000 (depending on experience and degree level–Masters/Specialist/Doctorate)

Start date–July 7,2026

260 day contract with 20 vacation days and 10 days of sick leave per year
