High School Math Teacher

 

Qualifications:  The High School Math Teacher must hold a valid Nebraska professional teaching certificate.  

 

Length of Contract:  Will follow the length of service as outlined in the Negotiated Agreement. 

 

Immediate Supervisor:  The High School Math Teacher reports directly to the  Principal or designee.  

 

General Job Description:  In accordance with district policies and procedures, the High School Math Teacher is responsible for planning and teaching math lessons to  grades nine through twelve and helping all students in developing interest in math subjects.  

 

Specific Job Functions:  The High School Math Teacher:

 

  1. Develops and implements plans for the curriculum program assigned, and prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.

  2. Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing. 

  3. Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school district and create a classroom that is conducive to learning.

  4. Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies and regulations.

  5. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.

  6. Participate in District Staff Development opportunities.

  7. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.

  8. Any other assignments deemed appropriate by the building principal.

  9. Not required but preferred to be able to teach dual credit courses in the area of mathematics

  10. Collaborate with other teachers and staff members.

                         

Evaluation:  All teaching staff are evaluated annually according to the provisions of the “Appraisal of Teacher Service in the  Springfield Platteview Community Schools Handbook.  This function is performed by the building principal or designee and the summative evaluation is completed twice annually for probationary staff and once annually for tenured staff as a minimum. All due process prescribed in state statutes is afforded teachers of Springfield Platteview Community Schools.
