Prekindergarten Teacher

Teacher Subjects:

The lesson plans for Pre-Kindergarten should include daily skills in Mathematics, Science, Language and Literacy Development, Health and Physical Development, Social-Emotional Development, Creative Arts, Approaches to Learning and Jesus Time.

Primary Responsibilities:

Education

• Provide a quality education that follows the curriculum set forth by Touching Hearts Early Childhood Center

• Relate instruction to the Christian objectives of Touching Hearts

• Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving

• Use Christian disciplinary methods, using Gospel and Law appropriately

• Classroom control utilizes effective and fair procedures

• Utilize a variety of teaching procedures that encourage students to discover their unique capabilities

• Maintain daily open communication with parents

• Report progress of children through scheduled parent-teacher conferences

• Completed lesson plans available at all times

• Maintain an interesting, stimulating, neat, clean and pleasant classroom environment

• Arrange the classroom so that optimum instruction can take place

• Assist families with building a good foundation by helping provide activities for healthy growth

Children

• Communicate effectively with students, commending and reinforcing good conduct and achievement on the part of the students

• Communicate effectively with parents

• Demonstrates effectiveness and fairness in handling student discipline problems

• Adhere to standards of behavior that have been adopted for the school

Administration

• Implement policies adopted by the congregation and the Faith School Board

• Attend special school programs, religious services, projects and other school-related activities

• Complete classroom orders at the conclusion of each school year, maintain and update classroom inventories,  and provide EOY forms to the Director

• Coordinate activities with fellow educators and the Director for an effective team ministry

• Complete accident reports as necessary

• Maintain confidentiality

• Report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the director and appropriate agency

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain positive relations and display enthusiasm with students, colleagues, parents, and other community members and groups

• Responsible for playground and other supervision as assigned

• Schedule meetings with parents as needed

• Communicate with families on a regular basis

• Know, understand, apply, enforce, and follow all school policies, procedures, and handbooks

• Be punctual and efficient in meeting all assignments

• Identify strengths, limitations, needs, etc. through self-evaluation activities

• Additional duties as assigned
