English Language Arts Teacher–High School
Elwood Public School is looking for a High School English/Language Arts teacher for the 2027-2028 school year. Elwood is located just south of BEAUTIFUL Johnson Lake and 45 minutes SW of Kearney. Open spaces are abundant but trips to Kearney and GI are easily taken. Enjoy the quietness of rural Nebraska with the opportunity to visit larger cities within a short drive. Base salary in 2026-2027 is $40,325 with BC/BS health and dental. There has been no settlement for 2027-2028 at this time. Elwood will accept all years of experience and education. New Graduates this one is worth a look as well. $1,000 signing bonus for new to the profession teachers. 184 day contract with several scheduled workdays to collaborate with fellow teachers.
School generally begins the second week of August and finishes the third week of May. There are generally two teacher workdays scheduled in August to help you get ready for the start of school.
There is a two week Christmas Break spread out over three weekends and no school the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, giving us an extended Thanksgiving Break. Our breaks in the Spring consist of three separate Fridays.
