GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Educare of Omaha, Inc. is a collaborative partnership between the Early Head Start/Head Start, Omaha Public Schools and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. Comprised of the two Educare Omaha Schools (Kellom and Indian Hill) and the three Early Learning Centers (Skinner, Gateway and Kennedy), the mission of Educare of Omaha, Inc. is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 years through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social, family engagement and other services to enrolled children and their families.   

 

The Substitute Teacher plays an essential role in the classroom by providing educational, social, and emotional development for all students by following the program standards of Educare of Omaha, Early Head Start, Sixpence, Nebraska Department of Education, and NAEYC. 

 

This position is hiring for all locations!

 

Schedule: Full-time, Part-time, and On-call Schedules. (8-40 hours per week, choose your own schedule!)

  • Monday – Friday, preferred
  • Open to part-time, flexible schedules
  • On-call availability for early morning call outs
  • Willingness to cover long/short term assignments

Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly 

Reports to: Senior Director of Operations

Supervises: The Substitute Teacher is a non-supervisory position.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
  • Proficiency in maintaining efficient classroom management.
  • Take necessary and reasonable actions to ensure the safety of children, materials, and center equipment.
  • Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, pupils, school personnel, and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite, and refined manner.
  • Ability to comply with written and oral instructions. 

 

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in education (Early Childhood preferred)
  • One year of experience in a licensed childcare program 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.
