Job Title:  At-Risk Student Interventionist – Behavioral Support

The At-Risk Student Interventionist provides direct intervention and support services to students experiencing academic, behavioral, or social-emotional challenges that impact school success.  This role emphasizes early identification, prevention, behavioral intervention, and intensive case management for vulnerable student populations through data-driven decision-making, evidence-based interventions, and collaboration with families and school teams.

Education Level and Certification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, school psychology, counseling, social work, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Training in de-escalation, crisis intervention, and behavioral management strategies.
  • Knowledge of MTSS/RTI frameworks, trauma-informed practices, and Nebraska special education regulations.
  • Experience working with at-risk populations, including students experiencing poverty, homelessness, foster care, chronic absenteeism, or behavioral challenges.
  • Strong skills in data collection, progress monitoring, and relationship-building with diverse students and families.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Identify and provide direct services to behavior, special education and at-risk students through screening, assessment, counseling, and targeted interventions addressing academic skills, behavior, and social-emotional needs.
  • Implement and monitor evidence-based behavioral interventions, functional behavior assessments, and behavior intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (MTSS, IEP, 504) to develop coordinated intervention plans and support systems for students with complex needs.
  • Provide transition support for at-risk students; implement dropout-prevention strategies.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and inform decision-making.
  • Consult with teachers and staff on classroom management, behavioral strategies, accommodations, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services, interventions, and student progress in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Salary & Benefits will be commensurate with experience and negotiation.

  • Pending BOE Approval: Starting Salary – $42,100, as well as a retention bonus every 5 years of service.  Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
  • ability to bring a maximum of 11 years of service to D-T
