Sixpence Family Consultant

The Aurora Public School District is currently accepting applications for a Sixpence Family Consultant for the 2025-26 school year.  Candidates must hold an Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood, Social Work, Human Resources, or any related field.  Successful candidates possess experience working with infants and toddlers and their families.  A current and valid driver’s license is required.  The Sixpence Family Consultant is a grant funded position.  Employment is dependent on successful aware and availability of grant funds.  Specific areas of responsibility include:

·  Teach parenting, develop, and implement other parent related educational activities and opportunities.

·      Conduct family assessments, identify family needs, and develop family action plans.

·     Conduct evaluations of children participating in the program with parent input, observation, and developmental screenings.

·      Conduct community events to promote quality child, parent, and family development.

·      Make referrals of children with developmental and/or behavioral delays to Early Childhood specialist or other related community agencies.

·      Have a strong knowledge of community and program resources available to families such as child safety, child development, health issues, nutrition, and any other areas of concern.

·      Complete weekly home visits (1.5 hours in duration) and meet required number of visits in accordance with the program/grant guidelines.

·      Work with families of infants and toddlers to identify and set goals related to child and family outcomes and milestones.

·      Monitor progress and follow up on all referrals throughout the length of the program.

·      Work cooperatively with other employees, clients, and community members.

·      Participate in recruitment efforts and document all efforts used.

·      Promote school readiness for children, families, and community members.
