Head girls track coach
Mercy High School, an all-girls Catholic high school founded by the Sisters of Mercy, is accepting application for the position of Head Track & Field Coach for the 2027-2028 school year.
The Head Track & Field Coach is responsible for providing leadership, organization, and direction for the Mercy High School Track & Field program. The coach will promote athletic development, teamwork, sportsmanship, academic success, and the mission and values of Mercy.
• Plan and conduct organized, safe, and effective practices.
• Provide instruction in proper techniques, fundamentals, and event-specific skills.
• Attend and supervise all scheduled practices, meets, and team activities.
• Develop appropriate training plans for student-athletes across track and field events.
• Promote positive sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and school pride.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the Athletic Director.
• Coordinate and supervise assistant coaches and clearly define coaching responsibilities.
• Maintain accurate team rosters, eligibility information, and required athletic documentation.
• Assist with scheduling, transportation, equipment, uniforms, and meet preparation.
• Ensure proper care and inventory of school-issued equipment and uniforms.
• Follow all Mercy High School, conference, and NSAA policies and expectations.
• Promote student-athlete participation, retention, and continued growth of the Track & Field program.
• Represent Mercy High School professionally and positively at all times.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively work with high school student-athletes of varying skill levels.
• Knowledge of track & field rules, training principles, and safety practices.
• Willingness to complete all required school and NSAA coaching certifications and training.
• Certifications in CPR and First Aid, as well as the three required online NFHS classes will be required before the season
starts
Education and Experience
• Previous track & field coaching or competitive experience preferred.
• Build a positive team culture that emphasizes commitment, accountability, sportsmanship, personal growth, and pride.
