Custodian I – FT

Under the general direction and supervision of the Superintendent, Physical Plant, the Custodian I is responsible for facility cleanliness and sanitation. This includes: cleaning and sanitation of restrooms and restroom fixtures, cleaning floors, walls, windows, furniture, and fixtures in classrooms, laboratories, and offices, making minor repairs to furniture and facilities, removing ice and snow from steps and walks, and other assigned duties. This is a full-time regular position.

Essential Functions

Clean Designated Restrooms daily:
Involves cleaning and sanitizing sinks, urinals, toilets, showers, wastebaskets, partitions, and walls; cleaning mirrors, dispensers, and floors; replacing toilet paper and towels; and removing garbage/trash.

Clean Classrooms, Laboratories, and Offices daily:
Involves sweeping and mopping floors, washing windows, cleaning walls, dusting furniture and fixtures, vacuuming carpet, stripping walls and scrubbing floors, and waxing.

Move Office Equipment and Supervise:
Assist in moving tables, chairs, desks, etc., out of and back into rooms to facilitate cleaning. Make minor repairs on furniture and facilities, and supervise student workers. Drives Light Trucks and Automobiles as directed.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School graduate or GED.
  2. One (1) year of successful experience in the custodial area.
  3. Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to qualify for auto insurance.

Benefits

SCC BEN Dollars – Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee’s paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).

Schedule

Normal working hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 3:00 p.m.and 1:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour work week, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
