Anticipated Elementary Counselor ( PK-2)

Fairbury Public Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered individual to fill an Anticipated PK-2 Elementary Counselor position. You will be an integral part of our educational team, providing comprehensive guidance services to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students across our elementary and middle school levels.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Student Support: Provide individual and small group counseling to address academic progress, behavioral adjustments, and social-emotional needs.
  • Guidance Curriculum: Coordinate and deliver a developmental guidance curriculum in classrooms to promote positive behavior and life skills.
  • Collaboration: Work with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop action plans and participate in MTSS504, and IEP/MDT meetings.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to and manage student crises or emergencies, coordinating with external social service agencies as necessary.
  • Data Analysis: Use diagnostic assessments to gather and interpret student data to inform school-wide success strategies.

Salary & Compensation

  • Competitive Pay Scale: Starting pay is determined by a “step and lane” schedule. You will receive full credit for previous teaching experience in accredited schools and for graduate-level education credits beyond a B.A. or B.S..
  • Additional Earnings: Opportunities for coaching and extra-duty assignments are available.

Qualifications

  • Must hold (or be eligible for) a valid Nebraska Department of Education certificate with an Elementary PK-2 School Counselor endorsement.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in School Counseling preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse student populations.
