Middle School Special Education (Behavior) Teacher

Beatrice Public Schools is hiring a Special Education Teacher – Behavior Disorder (BD) at Beatrice Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year. This position serves students in grades 6–12 in a self-contained setting.

Success in this role requires strong collaboration with general education teachers, paraeducators, administrators, and families to support positive behavior, access to instruction, and student growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs aligned to student needs, behavioral goals, and state standards
  • Provide specially designed instruction and behavioral support in small group and structured settings
  • Implement and support positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) and behavior plans
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation in accordance with state and federal requirements
  • Meet timelines and maintain strong progress-monitoring systems for academic and behavioral growth
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support inclusion, behavior regulation, and student success
  • Support students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral skill development

Qualifications

  • Valid Nebraska Special Education Teaching Certificate, or ability to obtain prior to the start date
  • Knowledge of behavior disorder programming, PBIS, and restorative practices preferred
  • Experience working with middle and high-school students and behavioral supports preferred
