High School Basic Education – Language Arts Teacher
West Kearney High School, located at the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Kearney, is seeking a Teacher for our Language Arts program. Salary is based on the negotiated SCATA contract. Any 7-12 endorsement will be considered for Teachers willing to instruct in the Language Arts area.
Job Duties – The Language Arts Teacher is responsible for the development of each students’ skills with regards to research, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Further development of the fundamentals pertinent to effective communication and literate citizenship is also desired. The instructor will motivate students to develop an appreciation of literature of all types and encourage good life-long reading habits and skills. Additional duties may include escorting students, community projects, and collaborative projects with other faculty / staff members.
REQUIREMENTS: A current Nebraska Teaching Certificate with at least a 7-12 Language Arts endorsement. PREFERRED: Teaching experience in a residential treatment facility or alternative classroom would be beneficial but not required. OTHER: Candidates who can be eligible for 7-12 Language Arts endorsement before start date, or are willing to pursue endorsement will also be considered.
