York Public Schools is accepting applications for a 6th Grade Reading Teacher at York Middle School. We are seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered educator who is passionate about literacy development and helping students grow as confident, capable readers.

Position Details:

• Full-time, certified teaching position
• Grade 6 assignment
• Start Date: August 2026

Responsibilities Include:

• Delivering engaging, research-based reading instruction
• Supporting students in comprehension, vocabulary development, and fluency
• Using data to guide instruction and monitor student progress
• Collaborating with grade-level and intervention teams
• Communicating effectively with students, families, and staff
• Creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment

Qualifications:

• Valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate (or ability to obtain) with appropriate endorsement
• Strong understanding of literacy instruction and intervention strategies
• Effective communication and classroom management skills
• Commitment to meeting the diverse needs of middle-level learners
