Special Education Teacher
Position Summary
The Secondary Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and case management services to students with disabilities in grades 7–12. This position is responsible for developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), delivering evidence-based instructional strategies, and ensuring compliance with federal and state special education regulations. The teacher collaborates with general education staff, related service providers, families, and administrators to support student success in inclusive and specialized settings.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Support

Provide direct specialized instruction in accordance with students’ IEPs

Adapt and modify curriculum, assignments, and assessments to meet diverse learning needs

Implement research-based instructional strategies and accommodations

Support students in inclusive general education settings as appropriate
-
Foster a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
Case Management & Compliance
-
Serve as case manager for assigned students

Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with IDEA and state regulations

Conduct progress monitoring and maintain accurate documentation

Coordinate and participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and re-evaluations
-
Ensure timely completion of required reports and documentation
Collaboration & Communication

Collaborate with general education teachers to support co-teaching and differentiated instruction

Partner with related service providers (speech, OT, counseling, etc.)

Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
