High School Behavior Program Teacher

JOB TITLE: High School Special Education Behavior Disorder Teacher REQUIREMENTS: A. Education Level: Bachelors Degree or higher. Major in Special Education 7-12 K-12 SPED and Behavior Disorder EndorsementB. Certification /Licensure: Meets standards for certification as a teacher of special education as set by the Nebraska Department of Education C. Experience Desired: Teaching experience preferred but not requiredD. Other Requirements: Knowledge and/or experience preferred with inclusionary practices. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Must be able to write valid IEPs and to follow IDEA. 2. Must be able to teach programs according to IEPs for students with verified handicapping conditions. 3. Must be able to assist subject matter instructors in collaborative instructional models. 4. Must provide leadership and supervision of students in developing, organizing and utilizing resources for an effective instructional program at the high school level. 5. Must assist in program evaluation on a regular basis and participate in appropriate in-service development programs. 6. Must provide a safe orderly learning environment and assist in the supervision and direction of students as assigned. 7. Must provide a variety of learning experiences in which students are actively engaged as participants in the lesson8. Must comply with state mandates for the education of verified students.9. Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Intervention Plans for students.!0. Assist and support building staff and parents in the development, implementation and revision of student behavior intervention plans.11. Must have very good command of oral and written English language and ability to present effectively to large groups.12. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to consult effectively with teachers, administrators, and parents, in a variety of settings.13. Must be flexible and adapt to change.14. Must have the ability to interface with people (groups and individuals) and communicate within various mediums (E-mail, telephone).
