High School Basic Education – Language Arts Teacher

West Kearney High School, located at the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Kearney, is seeking a Teacher for our Language Arts program. Teaching assignment will begin in August at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year with an optional summer contract for 2019 available. Salary is based on the negotiated SCATA contract. Any 7-12 endorsement will be considered for Teachers willing to instruct in the Language Arts area.Job Duties – The Language Arts Teacher is responsible for the development of each students’ skills with regards to research, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Further development of the fundamentals pertinent to effective communication and literate citizenship is also desired. The instructor will motivate students to develop an appreciation of literature of all types and encourage good life-long reading habits and skills. Additional duties may include escorting students, community projects, and collaborative projects with other faculty / staff members. REQUIREMENTS: Must opssess a valid Nebraska TEaching Certificate, or be eligible to obtain Nebraska Teaching Certificate. PREFERRED: Candidates with 7-12 Language Arts endorsement, or willingness to work towards 7-12 Language Arts endorsement preferred. Teaching experience in a residential treatment facility or alternative classroom would be beneficial but not required.
