School Counselor (7-12 or PK-12)

Due to retirement, Thayer Central Community Schools is seeking a school counselor for the 2025-2026 school year. Thayer Central has its elementary and secondary in the same building with approximately 450 total students. The ideal candidate will collaborate with students, staff, and families to foster a positive school climate, focused on supporting the academic, social-emotional, and career and college readiness development needs of our students.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold or be working towards a Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) School Counselor Certificate (PreK-12 or 7-12 endorsement).

  • Knowledge of social-emotional learning, career  and college readiness, and academic planning.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

Additional Information

Thayer Central is a PK-12 district located in the town of Hebron, NE.  Other towns include Chester, Hubbell, Byron, Belvidere and Gilead located in the south central part of Nebraska. Coaching and sponsor positions may also be available.

The School Counselor pay is subject to the TCCS Salary Schedule. All years of experience will be given. This position will have additional contract days. The Start date for this position is officially August, 1 2025. Any additional days for preparation may be granted by the Superintendent of schools.  New certified staff members at Thayer Central are eligible for a bonus of up to $3000.
