Director of Student Services

Thayer Central Community Schools is seeking a student-centered leader to serve as Director of Student Services. This administrative position provides district-level leadership for Special Education, Early Intervention (Birth–3), High Ability Learners (HAL), and English Language Learners (ELL).

Position Overview

The Director of Student Services oversees compliance, programming, and service delivery for students with diverse learning, behavioral, and language needs. The position supervises special education personnel, coordinates IEPs, MDTs, IFSP transitions, ED services, HAL identification, and ELL programming, and serves as the district liaison to the Nebraska Department of Education.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Supervision and evaluation of special education staff and paraprofessionals

• Oversight of IEPs, MDTs, 504 Plans, IFSP coordination, and student service plans

• Leadership of services for students with Emotional Disturbance (ED) verifications

• Coordination of Birth–3 Early Intervention services and transitions to Part B

• Administration of High Ability Learners (HAL) identification and programming (K–6)

• Oversight of English Language Learner (ELL) services, including ELPA21 and parent communication

• Ensuring compliance with IDEA, ESSA, and Nebraska Rules 3, 15, and 51

• Collaboration with administrators, teachers, families, and outside agencies
