St. John the Baptist Catholic School, a small, mission-driven elementary school serving the community since 1884, seeks a dynamic, faith-filled principal to lead its school community beginning July 1, 2026. Rooted in the Catholic tradition and supported by the Church of the Holy Spirit parish, St. John the Baptist is committed to forming disciples, fostering academic excellence, and supporting the spiritual, intellectual, and moral development of each student.
The successful candidate will be a visionary and collaborative leader who embraces the Catholic identity of the school, partners joyfully with families and parish leadership, and ensures a safe, welcoming, and high-achieving environment for students in Preschool through 8th Grade.

Primary Responsibilities
Spiritual Leadership
  • Serve as the spiritual leader and lead evangelist of the school community.
  • Create and sustain a school culture rooted in Catholic principles, values, and practices.
  • Oversee the religion curriculum and support the ongoing spiritual development of students, faculty, and families.
  • Collaborate closely with the Pastor and parish staff to strengthen the school–parish relationship.
Educational Leadership
  • Develop and communicate a clear educational mission and vision that promotes academic excellence and student well-being.
  • Use multiple sources of data to drive instruction, school improvement, and professional growth.
  • Support teachers through coaching, evaluations, and professional development.
  • Oversee curriculum implementation, technology integration, and student achievement.
  • Foster a positive learning environment characterized by collaboration, effective communication, and shared responsibility.
Operational & Managerial Leadership
  • Oversee the daily operations of the school, including staffing, scheduling, discipline, and communications.
  • Maintain a close and collaborative working relationship with the Pastor and Chief Administrative Officer.
  • Lead long-term planning, budgeting, accreditation processes, and compliance with diocesan, state, and federal requirements.
  • Promote strong community engagement and maintain open communication with families, staff, and parishioners.
  • Manage hiring processes and orientation of new employees.
  • Cultivate positive staff morale and a culture of mission-driven service.

Qualifications
  • Active, practicing Roman Catholic in good standing (required).
  • Valid Nebraska Administrative Certificate.
  • Elementary endorsement preferred.
  • 3–5 years classroom teaching experience required.
  • Previous administrative experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership, communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to articulate and advance the mission of Catholic education with clarity and enthusiasm.
