Resource / Special Education Teacher
Purpose:The resource teacher will be responsible for providing at-risk students in grades K-8 with research based strategies and instructional support services. The teacher will work collaboratively with the Administrator and general education teachers to provide early interventions in the general education setting to the greatest extent possible. Qualifications:• Bachelor’s Degree in Education• Current Nebraska Teaching Certificate • Strong knowledge of reading and math intervention strategies used for struggling learnersPreferred Qualifications:• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Education• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience• Specialized training in various research based interventions and strategies Specific Abilities and Skills:• Ability to provide instructional support:o to the general education teacher in a balanced literacy program for at-risk reading students o for students one on one or in small group in the resource setting or general education settingo to monitor student progress on a regular basis, participating or initiating grade level Student Assistance Team (SAT) meetings at needed• Ability to provide consultative services to parents and teachers on:o identification and verification of disabilitieso collection and evaluation of data for accommodations and progress monitoringo integration in the general education setting• Ability to coordinate individualized instructional planning:o and referral and assessment procedureso for intervention and strategies during the SAT meetingso and collection of data for students in the pre-referral processo for verified students that qualify for Accommodation planso and the organization of special education media and materials for the general education classroom (ex. FM system)• A general to strong knowledge in the areas of:o Response to Intervention (RtI)o Special Education verification processo Balanced literacy
