Information Systems Technician – FT
Under the general direction and supervision of the Administrative Director of Client Services, the Information Systems Technician will install, configure, and maintain client workstation hardware and software systems and provide technical assistance to system users in a networked environment. The technician will also be required to install, configure, and maintain client workstation peripheral equipment, phones, cameras, door access, and audio/video systems in a networked environment. This is a full-time regular position.
Essential Functions
- Set up and deploy client workstations for user applications.
- Troubleshoot, replace, and configure hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and other peripheral devices for Windows and Apple client workstations.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot specified licensed software packages.
- Install, mount, configure, and maintain audio-video systems such as media carts, projectors, TVs, document cameras, digital signage, and audio/video conferencing equipment.
- Install, configure, and maintain phones, cameras, and door access systems.
- Provide training for users relating to the use of the technology.
- Respond to users’ inquiries in person, via email, and via telephone concerning client workstation operation.
- Utilize IT work order software to create and document work orders and communicate work activity to users.
- Use client management software as directed by the Network Systems Technician to deploy and maintain client workstations.
- Provide technical assistance on network switches and servers when requested and directed by the Network Systems Technician.
- Deploy wireless access points as directed by the Network Systems Technician.
- Use appropriate diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques and equipment to identify electronic and mechanical problems at the board or module level on client workstations or related peripheral equipment.
- Troubleshoot and maintain defective client workstations and peripheral equipment using proper techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Attend technical conferences and seminars to stay current on new software and hardware product developments.
- Assist departments and users, when requested, in researching information on new computer hardware and software to meet specific needs.
- Install, terminate, maintain, and troubleshoot network cabling used in our college network as directed by a Network Systems Technician.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school with an emphasis in electronics or computer technology, PLUS one (1) year of related work experience.
OR
- Three (3) years of verifiable full-time work experience in client workstation installation, configuration, and maintenance.

$27.58 per hour
Benefits
SCC BEN Dollars – Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee’s paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).
Schedule
Normal working hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 7:00 a.m.and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour work week, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
