Admissions Counselor & Testing Coordinator – FT
Under the direction and supervision of the Administrative Director of Admissions and the Dean of Students/Assistant Campus Director, the Admissions Counselor & Testing Coordinator position is responsible for the provision of educational and vocational advising and testing services to current and prospective students for the College at assigned locations. The Admissions Counselor & Testing Coordinator collects and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests, interviews, and other professional sources in order to appraise interests, abilities, and personality characteristics to aid students in making and carrying out vocational and educational objectives. The Admissions Counselor & Testing Coordinator provides prospective students with necessary information to make informed choices about careers and College programs of study, to guide students toward choosing Southeast Community College, to provide information and assistance as needed in other areas of Student Affairs, and to present a positive public image of the College.
Computer skills are essential; experience with a centralized student database and/or recruiting/software and technology is preferred. Additional duties may include providing college applicants basic skill assessment services, providing campus tours, presenting workshops on topics such as career exploration and planning, conducting in-service training sessions for faculty and professional staff, and participating in college outreach activities with various community agencies and organizations. In addition, the Admissions Counselor & Testing Coordinator will assist with onboarding experiences for new students, both in person and online, which includes, but is not limited to, presentations, workshops, course instruction, and welcome activities.

Essential Functions
Provide Pre-Admission Advising:
- Provides presentations, workshops, and individual and group meetings to prospective and undeclared students regarding educational opportunities at Southeast Community College.
- Administers, scores, and interprets basic academic skill assessment instruments and assists applicants and current and prospective students in identifying effective remediation techniques.
- Conduct individual and group campus tours.
- Supports admissions services at Learning Centers and develops relationships with local community agencies.
Coordinate Campus Assessment & Testing Center and Services:
- The position organizes, administers, and coordinates campus testing and assessment services to include College entrance and placement (Next Generation Accuplacer and Companion).
- Off-site placement testing will involve regular travel to remote testing sites (typically area high schools) on a schedule to administer and interpret assessment results. Other testing responsibilities may include make up tests, distance learning, GED, CLEP, and other industry specific tests, and administration of student surveys.
- Maintains an appropriately secure testing environment in accordance with College regulations, policies, and procedures. The position has oversight of formal testing agreements with external testing organizations and insures that proper procedures are followed.
- Serves as a member of the College Testing and Assessment committee to address testing concerns and participates in the periodic review of requests of placement and admission score changes.
- Enter ACT/SAT/Next Generation/Companion scores in the College computer data system.
Assists Individuals with Career Development Activities:
- Assists current and prospective students in developing educational goals leading to employment choices based on their abilities, interests, and personality characteristics.
- Administers, scores, and interprets career guidance and other assessment instruments and provides occupational and educational information to enable individuals to formulate career decisions.
Provides Advising for Undeclared/Visiting Students:
- Routinely assists undeclared students with course registration and advising.
- Provides applicants for admissions with information regarding College admissions and specific program requirements, deadlines, and information.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for students regarding the admissions process and transitioning to college.
Functions as a member of the Admissions staff (college-wide):
- Interacts with colleagues, students, and staff in a manner that promotes a positive image of the Admissions team and the College.
- Support the College-wide effort to promote/facilitate institutional services such as recruitment, placement, and orientation.
Record Maintenance and Data Management:
- Utilize and maintain records associated with student admissions and testing and assessment activities.
- Enter, analyze, interpret, and discern admissions and assessment data and trends, identify barriers to enrollment, and work as part of the Admissions team to effectively communicate with and recruit prospective students.
- Utilize technology-based platforms to monitor, support, and communicate with students during the admissions and advising processes.
Supervision:
- Oversee daily training and supervision of assigned staff and/or students.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Two (2) years professional work experience at a secondary and/or post-secondary institution in one or more areas of College Student Services*.
- Must successfully complete certification requirements for Next Generation Accuplacer, Pearson Vue, and CLEP within six (6) months of hire.
*A Master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required two (2) years’ work experience.)

Benefits
SCC BEN Dollars – Eligible Employees: Full-time status. Regular employees with an FTE of 0.75 or greater will be eligible for SCC Ben Dollars. All employees will be required to elect a health insurance option. If the cost of insurance coverage selected by an employee exceeds the SCC Ben Dollars available, all additional costs will be withheld from the employee’s paycheck. Any SCC Ben Dollars that the employee does not elect to use for the purchase of dependent health and dental insurance will be paid to the employee in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts paid are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes, but not subject to the College’s contribution toward the Retirement Savings Plan – Group Retirement Account (GRA).
Schedule
Normal working hours for this full-time regular position are scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, requiring a minimum of a 40-hour work week, based on a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
