Math Teacher

Job Overview: The High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction to students in grades 9–12. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving skills, mathematical reasoning, and student achievement while supporting the mission and vision of the district. Course content will include but is not limited to Geometry and Algebra.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction and Curriculum Development:

  • Plan, organize, and deliver standards based instruction that is aligned to the Nebraska Mathematics standards.

  • Teach Algebra and Geometry courses and other advanced mathematics courses as assigned.

  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learners.

  • Assess students’ progress through formative and summative assessments while adjusting instruction to support student needs. 

  • Provide feedback to students to support student learning. 

Classroom Management:

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning.

  • Manage student behavior by applying research based management strategies.

  • Uphold school policies, rules, and procedures. 

Student Engagement and Support:

  • Provide individual or small group instruction to students who need additional assistance.

  • Encourage active participation in practical and theoretical tasks, motivating students to apply their learning to real-world scenarios.

Collaboration and Professional Development:

  • Collaborate with colleagues in such a way that builds and supports a positive culture for learning. 

  • Participate in building and/or district professional development activities to continuously improve teaching techniques and subject knowledge.

Professional Duties:

  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and assessment data.

  • Prepare reports and communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student performance and behavior.

Base Salary: $41,300 (Additional years and hours honored on pay scale)

Contract: 187 Days
