Family and Consumer Science Teacher – High School
Job Overview: The Family and Consumer Science teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective instruction in family and interpersonal relationships, interior design, medical terminology, nutrition and food, and health sciences with the possibility of teaching other content areas. The teacher fosters a positive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum Development:

Plan, organize, and deliver standards based instruction.

Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learners.

Assess students’ progress through formative and summative assessments while adjusting instruction to support student needs.

Provide feedback to students to support student learning.
Classroom Management:

Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning.

Manage student behavior by applying research based management strategies.
-
Uphold school policies, rules, and procedures.
Student Engagement and Support:

Provide individual or small group instruction to students who need additional assistance.

Encourage active participation in practical and theoretical tasks, motivating students to apply their learning to real-world scenarios.
Collaboration and Professional Development:

Collaborate with colleagues in such a way that builds and supports a positive culture for learning.

Participate in building and/or district professional development activities to continuously improve teaching techniques and subject knowledge.
Professional Duties:

Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and assessment data.

Prepare reports and communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student performance and behavior.

Participate in school-wide meetings, events, and other administrative activities as required.

Starting Salary: $40,600 (pending changes to the 2026-27 negotiated agreement)
