Position Title: 7–12 Principal
Location: Perkins County, Grant, Nebraska
Reports To: Superintendent
Contract Length: 11 Months

Position Overview

Perkins County Schools, a high-performing rural Nebraska district serving approximately 180 students in grades 7–12, is seeking an instructional leader to serve as our Secondary Principal. Our district is defined by academic excellence, a positive and student-centered culture, strong community partnerships, and expansive Career and Technical Education (CTE) and college readiness opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

  • Provide visionary leadership to sustain and enhance academic excellence.

     

  • Support high-quality instruction through regular classroom observations, feedback, and professional development.

     

  • Utilize student achievement data to drive continuous improvement.

     

  • Ensure alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with Nebraska state standards.

     

Culture and Climate

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive school culture where all students are known and valued.

     

  • Promote high expectations for academic performance, behavior, and participation.

     

  • Support student leadership and involvement in extracurricular activities.

     

  • Maintain strong visibility throughout the school and community.

     

Career & College Readiness

  • Expand and support CTE programming aligned to regional workforce demands.

     

  • Strengthen dual-credit and postsecondary partnerships.

     

  • Ensure all students graduate prepared for college, career, and life.

     

Staff Leadership and Development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-quality educators and support staff.

     

  • Conduct evaluations consistent with district policy and state guidelines.

     

  • Build collaborative teams focused on student success.

     

  • Support professional learning communities and instructional improvement initiatives.

     

Operations and Compliance

  • Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, supervision, and student services.

     

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

     

  • Manage budgets and resources responsibly.

     

  • Maintain effective communication with families and stakeholders.

     

Community Engagement

  • Serve as a visible and accessible leader within the school and broader community.

     

  • Strengthen partnerships with families, local businesses, and community organizations.

     

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Nebraska Administrative Certificate (or eligibility).

     

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field (Specialist or Doctorate preferred).

     

  • Successful teaching experience; secondary experience preferred.

     

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a school setting.

     

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

     

  • Commitment to rural education and community engagement.
