Salary: Commensurated with experience
Description: The District Mental Health Liaison, in accordance with PLCS policies and procedures, is responsible for systems of support and resources for students, staff, and families in the areas of mental, behavioral, social, and emotional health. Enhances awareness of mental health needs, services, and promotes community understanding of mental health.
Qualifications:
- Eligible or current Nebraska Licensure/Certification in one of the following area(s): Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP, LIMHP), Certified Master Social Worker (CMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Psychologist, or Educational Psychologist
- Experienced in the provision of mental health services and consultation.
- Trained in, or willing to be trained in evidence-based practices such as: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT); Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); Cognitive Behavioral Intervention in Schools (CBITS); Bounce Back; Support for Students Exposed to Trauma (SSET); Motivational Interviewing; Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR); TCIT-U, etc.
- Establish relationships and serve as a liaison with external resource providers in the area of mental health, substance use/abuse, developmental disabilities, etc.
- Successful record of writing and obtaining private and public funding to support comprehensive mental health/wellness programming.
- Experience with sustainable systems at a district or community level.
- Researching, promoting, implementing and supporting evidence-based mental health and social-emotional learning curricula.
- Experience with facilitating research based professional development with adults.
- Ability to work both independently and with limited supervision.
- Strong collaborator and communicator both verbally and in writing.
- Skills in problem solving, crisis intervention, organization and time management.

Responsibilities:
- Dependable and reliable attendance.
- Provides mental health consultation to District employees regarding students and families in need of assessment, evaluation, outpatient or inpatient therapy.
- Leads the Mental Health Collaborative, consisting of school social workers, counselors, psychologists, and behavior coaches, prioritizing mental health needs and implementing district-wide mental health strategies.
- Co-leads the PLCS Empowerment Collective, providing education, outreach, and mental health resources to parents, caregivers, and community members.
- Serves as a member of the District Incident Management Team, leads the District Incident Response and Recovery Team Leader and serves as the Liaison Officer.
- Directs school social workers and school counselors and contributes input to their evaluating administrators.
- Facilitates members of the Mental Health Collaborative in identifying appropriate evidence-based interventions with students.
- Collaborates with district and school staff to co-lead the multi-tiered systems of support in the area of social, emotional, and behavioral learning.
- Collaborates with district and school staff to co-lead Tier 1 supports (including PBIS training and implementation) and Tier 2 interventions (including Check In/Check Out and evidence-based small groups).
- Participates as a District representative on Lift Up Sarpy, the community collaborative providing prevention services to students and families.
- Develops, maintains, and evaluates partnerships with community-based providers to address mental health and trauma services for students.
- Represents interests of the school mental health program with the organization’s administrative staff under the direction of the Director of Special Services.
- Provides consultation for school staff regarding student mental health issues, including classroom observation, team meetings, and appropriate service determination as appropriate.
- Participates in the collection of mental health information and student outcome data to be used for monitoring overall performance and effectiveness of services provided and program development.
- Complies with all federal and state regulations for privacy and confidentiality to student information and maintains required data.
- Collaborates with internal departments and external agencies to facilitate ongoing professional development.
- Other duties as assigned.
