6-8 English / Language Arts – Our Lady of Lourdes Omaha

Our Lady of Lourdes School is accepting applications for a Middle School ELA teaching position for the 2025-2026 school year.

The English Language Arts teacher:

  • Fosters language development, literacy skills, and a love for literature while integrating Catholic teachings and values into the curriculum.
  • Implements a comprehensive ELA curriculum aligned with grade-level standards.
  • Creates diverse and culturally responsive lessons that promote critical thinking, communication skills, and a love for reading and writing.
  • Provides engaging instruction that caters to various learning styles and abilities.
  • Effectively manages classroom activities, transitions, and behavior while fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Develops and administers formative and summative assessments to measure student understanding.
  • Maintains a cooperative working relationship with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Patience, creativity, and a passion for middle school students.

Be a flexible team player.

Excellent communication skills.

Serve as a lead role model, guiding students in moral and ethical development.

Able to create a supportive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in education with a proper endorsement in ELA.

Valid Nebraska teaching certificate with a proper ELA endorsement.

Completion of Safe Environment Training and background check.

Previous experience teaching ELA preferred.
