7-12 Ag Teacher
Osceola, a rural community in central Nebraska, is located along highway 81/92 between the cities of Columbus and York. The town is the county seat for Polk County and besides the court house the community is home to Annie Jeffrey Memorial Hospital, Polk County Fair Grounds, Good Samaritan Homes and Tonniges Chevrolet. Being a little over an hour or less from Omaha, Lincoln, Grand Island, Norfolk, Columbus and York makes Osceola a very convenient place to live and work.
With that being the case, along with a retiring teacher, the Osceola Public Schools is looking for an energetic Agriculture Teacher to continue to grow and build a strong Ag program. The district benefits from a very strong and supportive FFA alumni group, which along with the school wants to continue to build a vibrant Agricultural program to support the local economy. The District is looking for an individual that has a passion for Agriculture, wants to be a part of a strong school district, and has the personality to impact the education of students. The Osceola District prides itself on student academic excellence, as seen by our National Blue Ribbon award at Jeffrey Elementary and the District’s ranking of Excellent on Nebraska Department of Education AQUESTT ratings. This puts Osceola in the top 28% of schools in the State of Nebraska. The community’s support of the District is evident by the recently passed $7.7 million school addition that passed by a 2 to 1 margin.
Courses taught will take into account the skills and education of the successful candidate but would include general agriculture classes as well as FFA sponsorship which is an extra duty provision in the contract. Other activities are also available if a candidate has interest.
Osceola has a current base of $36,00 with full BC/BS insurance with choice of $1,050 deductible or $3,500 deductible HSA (Health Savings Account). Extra Duty assignments are based on percentage of the base. Other benefits include 10 sick days/year, (accumlative to 45), 125 Flex plan, and tuition reimbursement program. If the right candidate can be found this position could start as early as January 2020. However, we will be interviewing for both a January or August 2020 start date based on qualifications of the candidates.
