English/Reading Teacher
An Instructor at the Omaha Street School approaches learning from the perspective of the whole person: spiritual, academic, personal/social, vocational, and physical. The instructor holds primary responsibility for the planning, execution, and advocacy of all aspects of learning, through a Christ-centered approach. Instructors work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents to provide and implement classroom education to meet the needs of all students.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university

A valid NE Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s) in English Language Arts.

A demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn.

Excellent attendance record

Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best instructional practices.

Positive interpersonal skills
-
Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience

Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education

The individual will exhibit skills pertinent to foster positive human relationships and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Promotes a unified culture by embracing Christian-biblical values as a key component in daily interaction with students, families, staff, student support networks, volunteers, and the community at large.

Actively participates in regular planning meetings.

Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, state, and federal laws.

Engaging in professional growth activities through an ongoing program of job-related knowledge and skill development

Represent the Omaha Street School to the larger community for fund-raising and community interest purposes.
STUDENT MANAGEMENT AND EVALUATION

Evaluates student accomplishment on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods.

Makes appropriate adjustments in the instructional process based on student needs.

Collaboratively creates measurable goals for each student.

Actively and consistently informs parents regarding student academic progress, attendance, and behavior concerns.

Create and implement curriculum that adheres to the Omaha Street School philosophy, goals, and objectives.

Create and deliver effective lessons that incorporate that address multiple learning styles.

Recognize learning obstacles and make appropriate modifications and accommodations as needed.

Develops, in concert with school administration, reasonable expectations for student classroom behavior.
TECHNICAL
-
This position may require the ability to use desktop computers, laptop computers, SMART boards, walkie-talkies, and/or iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as copiers, scanners, and projectors.
Grades
9–12Additional Information
Salary Range: $38,000-$42,000 based on experience
