Secondary Automotive Teacher

Train the workforce of tomorrow! OPS Career Center is seeking an experienced automotive technician to teach its Automotive Tech pathway in 2022-23. Automotive Tech pathway prepares students to work on domestic and foreign cars/trucks in the high-tech automotive industry. Teach students to develop an MLR expertise, help the, earn industry credentials that align with the workforce, and introduce them to Diesel. H&H Onyx, Jensen Tire & Auto, Werner Enterprises, and Woodhouse, among other local automotive employers, are involved and supportive of the pathway providing class speakers, internships, sponsorships, and registered apprenticeships. Experience a classroom/lab environment that provides hands-on instructions, work with advanced diagnostic equipment, tools, and technology, and leverage partner support. This pathway gives high school students a leg-up towards a high wage, high demand, and high skill career in the Automotive field.

Position Purpose:  Plans for, teaches, and facilitates learning for all students. Creates a positive learning environment. Maintains academic progress, records, and discipline. Works collaboratively with students, parents and staff to provide and implement classroom education to meet the needs of all students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid NE Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s) in Industrial Technology or the ability to obtain a career permit in the appropriate career cluster.
  • A demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn.
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Excellent communication skills oral and written
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Best Instructional Practices in the Industrial Technology Classroom
  • Positive interpersonal skills
  • Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experience.
  • Evidence of the willingness and the ability to comply with the standards for ethical and professional performance established by the State Board of Education.
  • This individual will exhibit skills pertinent to foster positive human relationships and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents and the community
  • A willingness and demonstrated abilities conducive to a continuous quest for quality education.
