Truck Driving Trainer – South Sioux City

The purpose of this position is to instruct and train students for entry level employment as Commercial motor vehicle operators. This position will be responsible for providing theory, simulation, and practical applications for classes in Class A and Class B commercial motor vehicles and potential CDL endorsements. This is accomplished using established training materials to present training exercises and practice; proving training in policy and procedures in compliance with all local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and laws; and providing hands-on training in advanced applications, training and testing preparations in vehicle inspection, skills/maneuvers, range and road driving skills required to meet and or exceed requirements needed to successfully pass the Nebraska Commercial Driver’s exam. Other duties include operating Electronic Logging Devices (ELD’s) and tracking student performance electronically, performing minor maintenance on trucks and trailers, recruiting students, interacting with members of the community and businesses, and assisting in planning and setting up training classes.
This position will be primarily located on the South Sioux City Extended Campus but will also be required to travel to additional locations to provide training to meet our 20-county service area needs.
Qualifications: Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required, an associate degree preferred. Professional truck driving training certification is required.
Qualifications: Experience 
More than three years and up to five years of professional truck driving experience required. Successful candidate will have a clean driving record, possess a current CDL license and will maintain the license during employment with Northeast Community College. Must adhere to all requirements of holding a CDL license.
Qualifications: Skills 
Successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, exceptional human relation skills, is comfortable speaking in front of a class and is knowledgeable on how to operate computers and driving simulation equipment.
Current CDL license is required with a proven driving record.

Additional Information

This position is in salary grade 617, with a minimum starting salary of $51,905 per annum. The successful candidate’s salary will be calculated based on education and experience within the grade range. This position is eligible for Northeast Community College’s excellent full-time fringe benefits package. Cash-in-lieu of Health Insurance may be available depending upon successful candidate’s coverage enrollment.
