Building Construction Trainer – West Point
The purpose of this position is to provide basic knowledge of carpentry and related fields. This may include construction projects, helping students become familiar with tools of the trade, and other building trade competencies. Additional responsibilities of this position will include serving as an advisor for Northeast students interested in competing in the SkillsUSA competition; in addition to serving as the coordinator for area high schools and industry partners for the local Builders of the Future Program. This program works with area high schools and other organizations teaching construction skills to build projects. This is accomplished by maintaining requisite office hours; providing academic advisement to students; serving on college committees; attending meetings; participating in professional development activities; and performing all instructional-related activities as directed within the policies, guidelines, and regulations of Northeast Community College.
Other duties include:
- Exceptional knowledge and experience within the construction field.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational safety and health guidelines as they relate to the construction trades.
- Operational knowledge of construction equipment and hand tools. required.
- Thorough operational knowledge of personal computers.
Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree with 3-5 years of experience in construction related fields.
3 years of industrial or supervisory experience required. Additional experience may substitute for required education. Thorough knowledge of safety protocols as it relates to a construction environment.
Experience in the construction field with exposure to residential and light commercial construction techniques. Experience working with power tools and hand tools as used in the present construction trade. Supervisory, managerial, or teaching experience is preferred.
Be able to pass background, fingerprint, and regulatory requirements necessary to work with individuals under the age of 18.
Minimum starting salary of $63,648 per annum. The successful candidate’s salary will be calculated based on education and experience within the grade range. This position is eligible for Northeast Community College’s excellent full-time fringe benefits package. Cash-in-lieu of Health Insurance may be available depending upon successful candidate’s coverage enrollment.
