Middle School Physical Education Teacher
Norris Middle School is accepting applications for a full-time Middle School Physical Education position for the 2026–27 school year. The candidate selected for this position will work closely with experienced middle school educators to plan and deliver a standards-based physical education curriculum.
Required Qualifications:
Valid Nebraska certification, or the ability to obtain certification, in Physical Education. An emphasis or interest in health education is preferred.
TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaches skills, knowledge, and strategies aligned to a Physical Education endorsement while utilizing courses of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.

Provides effective instruction in both classroom and physical education settings (e.g., gymnasium and outdoor spaces).

Evaluates student growth in skills, knowledge, and participation within the curricular area.

Provides individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of all students.

Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior necessary to provide an orderly, safe, and productive learning environment.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains professional competence through district-provided in-service opportunities and self-selected professional growth activities.

Works cooperatively with middle school and high school staff to support a balanced and aligned program.

Collaborates with the appropriate administrator regarding evaluation processes in accordance with district guidelines.

Communicates effectively with parents/guardians and school counselors regarding student progress.
-
Identifies student needs and collaborates with professional staff to support student success.

Participates in curriculum development and other school improvement initiatives.

Participates in faculty committees and, as appropriate, the sponsorship of student activities.

Follows all Norris School District policies and procedures as outlined in the staff handbook.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Selects and requisitions supplies, equipment, and instructional materials; maintains appropriate inventory records.

Maintains proper care, control, and use of school-owned equipment and facilities.

Participates in curriculum review processes and relevant professional development.

Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Benefits

Base pay 2026-27: $41,700

All years of service accepted. 4% vertical, 5% horizontal salary schedule (9 graduate credit hour horizontal increments)
