Business Education Teacher

Norris High School is accepting applications for a high school Business teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.  The Norris Business, Marketing, Management, and Information Technology department strives to prepare job-ready students in the areas of business management and leadership, finance, law, accounting, information technology, and computer science.  The candidate chosen to fill this position will work closely with experienced business teachers in the high school in planning and executing academic curriculum with an emphasis on Computer Science.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaches basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of business management and leadership, finance, law, accounting, information technology, and computer science. while utilizing the courses of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.

  • Leads effective instruction in a classroom setting.

  • Evaluates each student’s growth in skills, knowledge, and contribution in BMIT curricular areas.

  • Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student, to the extent feasible.

  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the BMIT areas.

  • Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.

  • Works cooperatively with other business teachers at the high school levels in planning a balanced business, marketing, management, and information technology program.

  • Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.

  • Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.

  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping students solve problems.

  • Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.

  • Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Selects and requisitions consumable supplies, equipment, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.

  • Maintains control of storage and use of school-owned property.

  • Participates in the curriculum review process and other professional development programs.

  • Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.

  • Performs other duties as needed, as assigned by the supervisor.

Benefits (2024-25 Negotiated Agreement)

  • Base pay 2024-25: $40,100.00
    • 2025-26 TBD
  • All years of service accepted.  4% vertical, 5% horizontal salary schedule
  • Full single or family insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska
  • 88 hours (11 days) unspecified leave per year
  • Additional benefits include paid parental leave, dental, vision, and life insurance

Required qualifications: certified or able to obtain provisional certification as a business, marketing, management, and information technology teacher

Additional extracurricular coaching and sponsorship opportunities, including FBLA, are available but not required for the position.
